Australian Rowing Championships – Day 3 Results

There was tough conditions for racing on Wednesday with winds from the south-west up to 30 km per hour favouring the lane 2 side of the course. As a result the referee deemed conditions to be unfair and lanes were seeded with the faster crews from the earlier rounds drawn in lane 2 and the slower crews progressively across the course to lane 7.

The results for Banks were as follows:

Men U21 Single Scull – Semi-Final - Mark Putter was redrawn into lane 7 making it a very difficult assignment. Mark battled on well to finish 4thand will now contest the B Final (for places 7 to 12) on Thursday.

Mens Open Single Scull – Semi-Final – Likewise, James Meads was redrawn into lane 7 and pushed all the way to the line coming home in 5th. James will now contest the B Final on Thursday

Womens U21 Lightweight Single Scull - Semi—Final – It was particularly tough conditions for the lightweight scullers and Erica Smith found it tough going but pushed on well. She will also contest the B Final on Thursday.

Mens Open Lightweight Coxless Pair – Heat – Sam Oostendorp and Guy Velik drew lane 2 in the Heat, which was a race for lanes for the Final and had a good hit-out coming 3rdbehind the Toowong and Barwon crews. Sam and Guy are both primed for the Final.

Mens U13 Double Scull – Semi-Final - Mark Putter and Mitchell Caponas of UTS Haberfield led all the way to win comfortably and go through to the A Final. With conditions expected to be similar for the next few days they are likely to be seeded into a very favourable lane in the Final.
