About

Established in 1866, Banks Rowing Club is one of the oldest rowing clubs in Australia, located on the banks of the Yarra River in the heart of Melbourne. With a successful history, both nationally and internationally, with many Olympic and Commonwealth Games representatives and a number of World Champions.

Recently Banks has embarked on a new vision for the club. Our aim is to be the club of first choice on the banks of the Yarra – recognised widely for our inclusive culture; our professionalism and success at all levels of rowing; and our positive impact on the lives and wellbeing of the Banks Community.

The club offers athletes the chance to row and compete at a High-Performance, Youth/Development, Club and Veterans level. This provides a fantastic opportunity to athletes leaving school, coming back to the sport or coming from another club. The Banks family welcomes all new members with open arms. We promise not to let you get lost in the system and will help you in every way possible to achieve the goals on your personal rowing journey.

Banks has been consistently in the top clubs at the Victorian State Championships over the past few years.

The Australian National Championships in 2023, Banks athletes came way with a number of podium finishes. We had a number of Victorian team representatives and reserves at the regatta. Banks also had athletes on the senior Australian team and the Australian University Games team in the past season.
