A History of Banks Rowing Club | 1866 – 2020

Snapshot of our History
Banks Rowing Club was founded in 1866, and has a rich history of producing Olympians, Commonwealth Games, International and Interstate rowers. Yet excellence manifests itself at all levels of rowing at Banks, in our governance, off-water member activity, and through our focus on having a positive impact on the lives and wellbeing of the entire Banks community. This ‘snapshot version’ of our history is by no means comprehensive. It provides by way of timeline some of the many memorable moments spanning our nearly 155 years. It underpins the pride that flows through the DNA of Banks Rowing Club. This snapshot of our history will be augmented from time to time, so please do keep checking our website. We are also in the process of curating photos from our Club archives, dating back to our foundation in 1866, and will add those to the website progressively.

I would like to thank Terry Rankin and Sheena & Derrick Wilson for their time in compilingand presentation of this Snapshot. We hope you find it interesting.
